On December 27, at the "AI for Science" event organised by Japan’s Academist, I had the opportunity to present my research and advocacy work. At this event, I briefly discussed the relationship between my field of research and AI, as well as my reasons for participating in the Academist Prize. My aim was to bring the voices of the neurodivergent community to a wider audience.
However, regrettably, among the approximately 100 participants, there seemed to be few who showed interest in my work. There were no questions asked, which was a significant source of frustration for me. Since completing my doctorate 11 months ago, I have been engaged in various efforts to deepen the understanding of neurodivergence in Japan, but I have increasingly felt the challenges of living in Japan.
Nevertheless, I will not give up in my efforts to create a society with a better understanding of those with invisible differences, including neurodivergent people.
I am always grateful for your support.
Please do watch my presentation at this event, which has been uploaded on YouTube: https://youtu.be/re_mq29lDKY.
